Dog Vaccinations From Our Phoenix Veterinarian

At North Central Animal Hospital, our Phoenix veterinarians and team are committed to providing the best in care to your pet. If you've recently adopted a puppy, one of the first things you'll want to do is to schedule a wellness exam and make sure your puppy is up-to-date on any necessary vaccinations. Our Phoenix animal hospital can assist you with both of these needs.

What You Need to Know About Puppy Shots

One of the most common questions people have when they adopt a new dog is "what puppy shots are needed?" There is no universal answer to this question because your puppy's specific vaccination requirements will vary based on its size, breed, and risk factors. Fortunately, the veterinary staff at our animal clinic can provide you with guidance regarding required vaccinations.

For most puppies over the age of six weeks, vaccinations will include:

  • Distemper
  • Hepatitis (adenovirus)
  • Parvovirus

Once your puppy gets to be over the age of 12 weeks, we will typically recommend additional vaccinations, such as rabies, bordetella, parainfluenza, and possibly Leptospirosis. If you need help figuring out which vaccines your dog needs, we ask that you bring in your dog's adoption paperwork along with any existing veterinary paperwork so that our animal clinic can figure out which vaccinations your puppy has already received (if any) and which are still needed.

The staff at our pet hospital can administer any necessary dog vaccinations at the end of your puppy's first wellness exam at our pet hospital. From there, we can provide you with a schedule so you know which vaccines your dog will require in the future and the specific dates for them as well.
